Mom and Dad, short for Most Awesome Parents

I have grown up with many nicknames: Mouster, Emza, Emma, Emi, Em, EP, Bner, Bner-Wiener, Ba-liner... etc, etc. I love a good nickname, so let's see what my parents nicknames were as kids.

Did you have a nickname in Middle School or High School? If so, what was it and how did you get that name?

Dad:I had a nickname developed in High School -  "Booker T, Booker Byroan, or Booker".  It is kind of weird how I got it.  I was with Robbie Roberts, a childhood friend, and some of the other guys in our ward attending a Sunday School Class.  Our Sunday School Teacher called on me by saying Byroan, rather than Brian.  Robbie picked up on the error and started calling me Booker Byroan.  Eventually, the other guys in the Ward and even my sisters (think Aunt Aleta) started calling me Booker T (like the 60-70 funk group Booker T and the MGs.) Eventually, that handle became too long and folks just called me Booker like Rick and Sherry Knight, our former Stake President. Even when I was Bishop of the 9th Ward, Rick would call me Booker.  That's the history of my nickname.

Mom: Actually, I really didn't have a nickname in Middle School or High School.  The only nickname I acquired was from my Mom.  When I was very young she started to call me "Rosie".  I didn't realize she was the one who started calling me this name.  I always thought that it was my siblings.  In fact, some of my siblings still call me "Rosie".  My dad always called me Roseanne.  My mom gave me the background on my "Rosie" nickname but asked me not to tell the real story.  I would be happy to tell you the reason she called me "Rosie" in a personal conversation
