What is your first memory of one another?
Mom:The first time I met Brian, I was getting ready for a date. My roommates told me our home teachers were coming over. The home teachers arrived and Brian was one of them. Brian was a tall, thin, long haired blond with a mustache. I thought he was very handsome. I stayed a short while and then excused myself to leave for a date, with another guy.
The next time, I saw Brian was in the clerk's office, at the church. He was paying his tithing and I again thought he was a good looking guy. We had a quick conversation and I thought he was very kind. I asked my girlfriends about Brian and they said he was dating a girl in our Family Home Evening group. After I heard that, I knew he wasn't available, so I continued to date other guys.
Definitely, my first impression of Brian, was a good one. I was impressed with him
Dad:I remember seeing your Mom, Roseanne, so clearly. I had just moved into an new apartment at 10th East and 6th South in Salt Lake City. My roommate, Marshall Hill, who was a very strange older guy from Mississippi, had a hard time attracting other guys for the apartment. My portion of the rent was cheap, $45 per month. Like amounts of rent were split between 2 or 3 guys. This worked for me because I did not have a car or a bicycle to get around town, so I rode the bus or bummed rides with people. Yes, I was that poor white boy from San Antonio trying to go to BYU and support myself.
Marshall asked me to go home teaching on an April Sunday evening. He was assigned to see 3 girls a few blocks away and since he had a car it worked out great. We got to the apartment and were met by Carla Capner from Mallad, Idaho. Carla was nice but really 'chatty'. While we were visiting, this tall, really hot brunette comes in from a side door in the kitchen and says hello, and then takes off for her next date. She was wearing really nice jeans, a paled raspberry colored button up shirt with a matching raspberry colored scarf tied around her neck. Her hair was curdled like Farrah Fawcett or Jacqueline Smith from Charlies Angels. Heck she looked better than Charlies Angels!!..... And just as quickly as she appeared she was gone!! Kind of like a dream seen from some 70's romance movie.
Well, we finished up with Carla and left. I asked Marshall, "who was that gorgeous brunette!" Marshall said, in his weird southern drawl, "Oh that's Roseanne. She's reeeeel nace!" (Miss spelling provided to show his drawl.) "You got that right!" I responded. I really wanted to get to see her again. Tall, good looking, and sweet. Who could ask for more?
